Hargeisa (Dawan Africa) – Somaliland Police announced on Monday that they had seized illegal drugs and alcohol during an operation conducted.
According to the authorities, one suspect was arrested along with a vehicle transporting cannabis, alcohol, and various intoxicant pills smuggled into Somaliland.
Police Commander Abdirahman Abdillahi Hassan stated that the narcotics, confiscated by the anti-narcotics unit, consisted of ten packages. He underlined that the police remain committed to intensifying their campaign against drug trafficking.
“The Somaliland Police are ready to fight against anything that harms the wellbeing of our people,” the commander said.
The police described the incident as a serious development, noting that such cases were rare in the past but are now increasingly common. Officials warned that narcotics are spreading rapidly among young people, posing a significant risk to their future and to the health of society at large.
Police also cautioned traders and other individuals against smuggling drugs into the country, stressing that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found involved.
