Somalia, 11 November 2025 — The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) has inaugurated a new center in Wadajir district to improve citizen registration and identity card issuance services in Mogadishu.
Speaking at the launch ceremony on Monday night , the Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, Ali Yusuf Ali ‘Ali Hosh', said the new center is part of government efforts to expand public services and praised NIRA for improving the national registration system.
“This initiative is part of the government’s plan to bring services closer to the people. I commend NIRA for addressing previous challenges and streamlining the registration process,” Minister Ali Kosh said.
Director General Abdiwali Ali Abdulle “Tima’adde” said the facility will significantly reduce congestion at previous centers, as it has dedicated sections for registration and ID issuance, making services more accessible.

“This center has separate sections for registration and ID issuance, which will greatly ease the process and reduce queues,” said Director Tima’adde.
According to NIRA, the center can register up to 3,000 people daily, serving women during the day and men during the night.
This is the third NIRA center in Mogadishu operating with extended hours.
