RIYADH (Dawan) – August 5, 2026 – Somalia’s National Commission for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons and the Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA) signed a cooperation agreement on Tuesday to strengthen collaboration in public awareness and humanitarian affairs, according to the commission.
The agreement was signed during a working visit to Saudi Arabia by the Chairman of the National Commission for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons, Liban Egal.
Egal thanked the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for its continued support to Somalia, saying the new partnership would contribute to increasing public awareness and strengthening efforts to support vulnerable communities.

The cooperation will focus on enhancing coordination between the commission and UNA, particularly through the use of media platforms to share information related to humanitarian situations, refugees and internally displaced persons.
The agreement is part of broader efforts to strengthen partnerships between Somali institutions, international organisations and media bodies to improve awareness and support for communities affected by displacement and humanitarian challenges.
