Somalia, 11 November 2025 — Puntland has rejected the federal government’s E-Visa system, maintaining that entry fees paid at its airport facility will continue to be administered locally.
Speaking during a visit to Bosaso Airport on Monday Puntland’s Minister of Aviation and Airports, Abdillahi Bile Nur, said travelers should ignore other directives and continue paying entry fees directly at the airport upon arrival.“As Puntland, we say that people should pay the entry fees at the offices upon arrival,” said Nur, urging the federal government to suspend the policy.

The statement reflects ongoing concerns about dual fee collection at Puntland airports, where travelers holding foreign passports face both the regional airport charge and the federal e-Visa fee.
Earlier, Somaliland also rejected the federal e-Visa system, stating that its airports would not recognize it and that entry fees would remain under its authority.
