Somalia, 2 April 2026 Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni has announced a major government reshuffle, appointing a new cabinet and making changes to key state positions.
According to a statement issued by the presidency on Tuesday, the changes cover key ministries such as justice, interior, health, planning, aviation, environment, and fisheries. They also include appointment of deputy ministers and state ministers across sectors including finance, security, education, and humanitarian affairs.

2. Abdi Hirsi Ali Qarjab – Minister of Interior
3. Mohamed Abdirahman Faroole – Minister of Health
4. Barre Yusuf Faatakh – Minister of Planning
5. Abdifitah Ugaas Yasin – Minister of Aviation and Airports
6. Hodan Said Hassan – Minister of Women and Family Affairs
7. Farhan Ali Hirsi – Minister of Information and Communications

The president also appointed senior advisers, including a national security adviser, as well as key financial officials such as the Accountant General and leadership of the Puntland State Bank, signaling efforts to strengthen governance and financial management.
Additionally, regional governors and their deputies were appointed for Bari, Nugaal, Mudug, Karkaar, Sanaag and Haylaan regions to reinforce local administration and service delivery.
The reshuffle comes as Puntland authorities seek to improve institutional efficiency, strengthen coordination across government sectors, and address existing governance challenges.
