Somalia, 16 January 2026 Somalia's Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has arrived in Las Anod, the capital of North East State, to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the new regional leaders.
Hamza was received at the region's airport by the North East State President Abdulkadir Ahmed Aw Ali ‘Firdhiye’, regional officials, and members of the local community.

Hamza previously visited the city during the preparations for state elections of the regional leaders after the establishment of the new state..
The Prime Minister was preceded by several government officials who had arrived earlier, ensuring tight security in the city. The movement in Las Anod was completely halted for two days following a decision from the North East State administration.
