Somalia,14 April 2026 Somalia’s North East State has banned illegal arms trade, warning of strict legal action against anyone who violates the directive.
In a press statement, the federal state's security ministry said civilians are not permitted to trade or sell weapons, ammunition, or military gear, noting that only the North East State government is authorised to import such materials.
The ministry warned that anyone found engaging in the illegal arms trade will face firm legal action in accordance with the laws and regulations in place.

The federal state emphasised that maintaining security and peace is a shared responsibility, warning that anyone who breaks the law will be held accountable under the existing legal framework.
