Somalia, 22 October 2025 – Galmudug State has banned the import of Toyota Land cruiser pick up four wheel drive Vehicles, locally known as ‘Cabdibilaha’.
The directive, which took effect on Tuesday, 21st October, prohibits importers from loading or offloading these vehicles at Hobyo Port.
A statement from the State’s Security Ministry declared that bringing Toyota Land cruiser pick up four wheel drive vehicl “Cabdibilaha” vehicles into Galmudug now constitutes a criminal offence. It warned that individuals importing them would be treated as “collaborators of Al-Shabaab.”
The ministry said the decision is part of broader efforts to strengthen the region’s overall security. These vehicles, widely used by both Al-Shabaab fighters and government forces, have complicated security operations, making it difficult to distinguish between the two.
The ministry urged traders, transport companies, and relevant government agencies to fully adhere to the new directive and support the collective effort to maintain peace and security across Galmudug.
This measure forms part of Galmudug’s wider security strategy aimed at safeguarding Hobyo Port, which has seen a rapid increase in commercial activity since its reactivation last year.
