Somalia, 15 October 2025 — The National Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (NIEBC) has announced that the provisional voter list for Somalia’s upcoming elections will be published next week.
Commission Chairman Abdikarin Ahmed Hassan made the announcement today during the closing session of the Electoral Commission and Political Parties Forum, stating that the provisional voter list will be released on 19th October, while the final list is expected to be published two weeks later.
“The provisional list of registered voters will be published on October 19,” said Chairman Hassan, affirming the commission’s commitment to ensuring that both the public and political parties can easily access the information.
He explained that the voter list is being prepared by a contracted firm, and the information will be audited before the final list is released.
Hassan also urged political parties to finalize their candidate preparations, confirming that campaign activities are now officially open.
This announcement follows the commission’s decision on Tuesday to postpone the Benadir Regional Council elections by one month, citing delays in the submission of official symbols by several registered political parties.
