Somalia, 8 April 2026 Somalia has welcomed the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, describing it as a vital step toward building confidence, preserving peace, and ensuring the security of the region and the world.
As a member of the United Nations Security Council, Somalia commended the United States for its leadership in the initiative, highlighting the important role of Iran in diplomatic negotiations.
The Somali government expressed its support for all diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the conflict, reiterating its readiness to participate in global efforts aimed at reducing regional tensions.

It also appreciated the efforts made by countries such as Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Turkey, and Egypt in facilitating the talks, calling for sustained dialogue based on mutual respect and cooperation to ensure the long-term stability in the region.

The agreement has also garnered international support with many countries and the UN calling for long-lasting peace in the Middle East.
