ADDIS ABABA, 2 November 2026 — Ethiopia has repatriated 1,364 citizens who were living under difficult conditions in Saudi Arabia, bringing them home on six flights over the past week, the government said on Monday.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the returnees comprised 1,360 men and four women, including 18 children under the age of 18.
The ministry said the returnees were receiving assistance and care at airports and temporary reception centres established to support citizens returning from abroad.
Efforts are also underway to help them reunite with their families following their return.
The Foreign Ministry said more than 112,500 Ethiopians have been repatriated from Saudi Arabia since the programme began on 15 September 2025.
The government did not provide details about the specific conditions faced by the latest group or how long they had been living in Saudi Arabia.
