Somalia, 4 May 2026 Somalia and the United Nations discussed strengthening media cooperation to improve information sharing during humanitarian emergencies, officials said.
The discussions between Information Minister Daud Aweis Jama and UN Deputy Special Representative for Somalia George Conway took place in Mogadishu, according to Information Ministry statement on Sunday.
The talks focused on enhancing coordination between the ministry and UN agencies in public awareness and humanitarian response.

Officials highlighted the importance of aligning government and U.N. messaging to ensure timely and accurate information reaches the public during crises.
Jama said the ministry is committed to expanding cooperation, including improving outreach to rural and remote communities to increase access to information and public awareness.
The meeting also addressed training of journalists on humanitarian reporting and strengthening coordination of communication programmes between the government and UN agencies.
