JOWHAR, 2 November 2026 Somalia's Hirshabelle state has warned commercial airlines against becoming involved in political disputes in Hiraan region, instructing them to focus on business operations and comply with directives from its Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation.
In a warning letter dated Sunday, 1 November, Hirshabelle's Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Farah Mohamed Osman, said airlines operating at Ugas Khalif Airport and transport operators in Hiraan must not follow orders issued by authorities other than the ministry.
The ministry said directives governing road transport and aviation operations must come from its office and urged parties to refrain from implementing instructions issued elsewhere.
The letter specifically warned some commercial airlines against involvement in Hiraan's political disputes, calling on them to concentrate on providing transport services to the public.

The ministry also said individuals or companies that violated its directives would face legal action.
The warning was addressed to the Hiraan transport operators' committee and airlines operating in the region.
Copies were sent to security agencies, Sector Four Command of the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), Ugas Khalif Airport management and the Hiraan regional governor.
The directive comes amid political activity in Beletweyne opposing the Hirshabelle administration, which intensified following the re-election of President Ali Gudlawe Hussein in a leadership election held in Jowhar
