Somalia, 2 April 2026 Somalia and Türkiye have held talks in Mogadishu aimed at strengthening visa cooperation and easing travel restrictions as both countries seek to deepen their bilateral relations.
The meeting brought together the Director General of the Somali Immigration and Citizenship Agency (HSJ), Mustafa Duhulow, and Türkiye’s Ambassador to Somalia, Alper Aktaş.
Discussions focused on reviewing previous engagements and assessing progress made in visa processes, passports and travel facilitation between the two countries.

A statement from Somalia’s Immigration Agency said the meeting reflects ongoing efforts to improve documentation procedures and enhance the movement of citizens travelling between Somalia and Türkiye.
“The discussions focused on efforts related to visas, passports, and facilitating travel between the two countries,” the statement said.
Relations between Somalia and Türkiye have been steadily expanding in recent years, particularly in the areas of security, education and infrastructure.
