Somalia, 24 January 2026 – The Somali government has lauded Turkey's Albayrak for its decade-long role in transforming Mogadishu Port’s infrastructure and services signalling a strong partnership as the port prepares for transition.
“Over the past 10 years, Albayrak has done good work for us. The monthly revenue for the government has increased significantly. Mogadishu Port has been well-developed, and substantial investments have been made,” the Director of Mogadishu Port, Mohamed Ali Noor ‘Americo’ said during an interview with Dawan Media’s Mizan Podcast this week.
The Director also highlighted the company's role in staff training and equipment modernization, which he said had helped tremendously in improving port services.

Americo noted that the government had previously signed a 10-year agreement with Albayrak, allowing the company to manage the port and make significant investments in its infrastructure and operations. He added that the new agreement with Albayrak, currently in place, will last three years and represents a transitional phase.
Americo stressed that the Somali government has a clear plan of taking full control of the port in the near future.
