Mogadishu (Dawan Africa) – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud expressed solidarity with Pakistan after devastating floods killed over 300 people and displaced thousands across the country.
In his message, Mohamud extended condolences to the government and people of Pakistan, describing the disaster as “climate-induced” and reaffirming Somalia’s support during the humanitarian crisis.
According to Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority, most casualties were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where homes, schools, and infrastructure have been severely affected. Communications networks were disrupted as transmission towers collapsed, complicating relief efforts.
The President highlighted Somalia’s own vulnerability to climate-related disasters, emphasizing the need for stronger international cooperation to mitigate the human and economic toll of extreme weather events.
