Somalia (Dawan Africa) Somalia’s Deputy Prime Minister Salah Ahmed Jama said the country had made significant progress in democracy, elections and the rule of law as one-person, one-vote elections continued in parts of the country.
Jama made the remarks during a press conference on Somalia-European Union dialogue, where officials discussed governance, democracy and constitutional issues.
“I am pleased to say today that Somali citizens are lining up to cast their votes and elect their representatives in local government and South West State elections,” he said.
The deputy prime minister said residents across several towns in South West State, including men and women, were participating in the voting process, describing the development as historic.
