Somalia and Ukraine agreed to restore their diplomatic relations on April 11, 2025, during the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Türkiye — marking the beginning of a new chapter in the two nations’ engagement.
The appointment of Somalia’s ambassador comes as Ukraine continues its three-year-long war with Russia, one of the world’s major powers, while Somalia seeks to broaden its global diplomatic presence and strengthen partnerships with Europe.
