Somalia, 13 November 2025 — Somalia’s Cabinet on Thursday approved two Memoranda of Understanding with Saudi Arabia on media and cultural cooperation, during its weekly meeting chaired by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre.
The cabinet also received security briefings from the Somali Police Commissioner and the Commander of the Banadir Regional Police, who outlined recent gains in security operations and preparations to safeguard the upcoming Banaadir Regional Local Council elections.
Ministers praised the advances made by the Somali National Armed Forces in ongoing operations against the Al-Shabaab insurgents, and reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting civilians across the country.

The cabinet also condemned recent incidents involving abuses against unarmed civilians, describing them as violations of Somali cultural norms and Islamic values.
The government instructed security agencies to ensure that all those responsible are brought to justice.
