18 April 2026 - President William Ruto on Saturday said his government is rewriting the history of Northern Kenya after years of marginalisation.
Speaking at Mandera Stadium during the disbursement of KSh 63 million ($488,070) to 2,520 from the county, Ruto Northern Kenya was forgotten by successive government and his administration will correct the past history.
"Some people are asking if Northern Kenya started when I became the president but Northern Kenya was there. Only that it was forgotten and there were no development," he said.
He said his administration is rewriting the wrongs of 60 years of underdevelopment in the region.
The Head of State noted that he has no apology to make for heavily investing in the region.
"We will make sure that this part of Kenya is as developed as any other parts of Kenya or has access to development and government programs like any other oart of Kenya," he told crowds who turn up for the event.

He told off his critics who questioned him during his announcement that his government will contsruct road from Isiolo to Mandera, noting that works are currently ongoing and the road will soon be completed.
"We will ashamed them those who are opposed to our programs to transform Northern Kenya," he added.
Since taking over at the helm, President Ruto has been making inroads to Northern Kenya with several visits unlike his predecessors who made fewer visits during their respective reigns.
Ruto who is eyeing for his second term, has been campaigning on unity front noting that his is making sure all kenyans irrespective of their ethnicity, religion or race deserve equal chance.
Leaders in the region whom majority have aligned the ruling coalition have vowed to mobilise for President Ruto's re-election.
