Kenya , December 13, 2025 - President William Ruto honoured Mwanalima Adam with the prestigious Head of State’s Commendation (HSC) in recognition of her outstanding contribution to Kenyan football. The award was among the national honours conferred during the 2025 Jamhuri Day celebrations, which saw 881 distinguished Kenyans recognised for their service to the nation.
Mwanalima Adam, popularly known as Dogo, received the commendation for her exemplary performances as a forward for the Harambee Starlets, Kenya’s women’s national team. Her contributions were instrumental during the recent Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers, where she scored decisive goals and demonstrated leadership and flair on the pitch, helping the Starlets secure their place in continental competition after a nine-year absence.
The award was presented as part of the Jamhuri Day national honours, an annual tradition in which President Ruto recognises individuals from various sectors who have made significant contributions in areas such as public service, leadership, bravery, innovation, and community impact.
This year’s list, published in the Government Gazette, included recipients of the Order of the Golden Heart, Silver Star, Distinguished Service Medal, and Head of State’s Commendations across both civilian and military divisions.
