Kenya, 23 January 2026 Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni met on Friday with representatives of the international community in Nairobi to discuss security, political developments and humanitarian cooperation in Somalia, Puntland State House said.
Present at the meeting were ambassadors and senior diplomats from the United Nations, the European Union, Britain, Denmark, Norway, Canada, Germany and Sweden, as well as officials from the embassies of the United States, Switzerland, Finland, France and the Netherlands and representatives of the World Bank were present, statement from Puntland presidency said.
Discussions focused on the overall situation in Somalia, particularly security and political issues. Puntland was commended for its ongoing military operations against militant groups in its territory and for efforts to advance democratic governance, the statement added.

Humanitarian concerns and development cooperation were also discussed.
The meeting comes amid increasing international pressure on Somali opposition groups, under the alliance Somali Future Council, to accept a government invitation to participate in a national consultative forum, aimed at resolving the political deadlock surrounding the 2026 elections.
