Kenya, 26 April 2026 - Principal Secretary for Interior and National Administration Raymond Omollo has intensified grassroots engagements in Nyanza, calling on local leaders to support William Ruto and mobilise residents to register as voters ahead of the next general election.
Speaking during a high-level consultative meeting with the Migori County Bunge la Wananchi Caucus at his Kanyipir home in Homa Bay County, Omollo urged leaders to take an active role in ensuring eligible citizens obtain national identification cards and participate fully in the electoral process.
Omollo defended the President’s development record, stating that the administration is committed to equitable growth across all regions of the country.
“The President means well for the people of Kenya. He is doing his very best to ensure that development reaches every corner of this nation without discrimination,” said Omollo.
“What he requires is steady support from leaders and citizens alike so that he can fully deliver on the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, which is designed to uplift the common mwananchi and accelerate growth and development across Kenya.”
He further appealed to the caucus to help popularise government programmes at the grassroots, noting that informed communities are better placed to benefit from national initiatives. In return, he assured them of continued government support through development projects and public investments.
North Kanyamkago MCA George Omamba lauded Omollo for his close working relationship with local communities, describing him as an accessible leader who listens and responds to the needs of the people.

Omamba said the impact of the national government’s projects is already visible in Migori County, particularly in Uriri Constituency. He cited ongoing infrastructure development, affordable housing initiatives, modern markets, and expanded last-mile rural electrification as clear evidence of progress.
“We will reciprocate this goodwill at the ballot. We owe the President a debt of gratitude,” Omamba said.
“The development projects we are seeing, especially in housing, markets, and electricity connectivity, are too significant to ignore. While others engage in criticism, we will not be swayed by negative rhetoric. The results on the ground speak for themselves.”
The meeting also reviewed achievements recorded during the first term of the current administration, with the caucus expressing support for the continuation of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda. Members noted that a second term would allow the government to consolidate and expand ongoing programmes.
Participants emphasised the importance of structured collaboration with the Ministry of Interior to strengthen civic education and streamline voter registration efforts across Migori County. They agreed that empowering citizens with information is key to enhancing public participation in governance.
The Migori County Bunge la Wananchi Caucus reaffirmed its commitment to promoting inclusive governance, civic awareness, and active citizen engagement as part of broader efforts to drive national development.
