Somaliland, 21 October 2025 — Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi ‘Cirro’ held a meeting with senior religious scholars on Monday evening to brief them on recent developments in foreign affairs, peacebuilding and social progress.
During the meeting, President Cirro outlined his administration’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to strengthen Somaliland’s international presence and advance the country’s pursuit of formal recognition. He also highlighted the positive outcomes of his recent official visits to the United Arab Emirates and Ethiopia, describing them as productive engagements that reinforced diplomatic and trade ties.
Additionally, the President shared updates on the peace process in Erigavo, noting that reconciliation efforts were progressing well. He urged the religious leaders to continue praying for lasting peace in the region, according to a statement issued by the Somaliland Presidential Media Office.
The meeting is viewed as a reflection of the close cooperation between Somaliland’s leadership and the religious community — a partnership that, if maintained, could contribute to achieving sustainable peace across the region.
