Mogadishu, Somalia (Dawan Africa) – Premier Bank on Saturday announced a record-breaking discount on MasterCard issuance, reducing the cost of physical cards to $2 and virtual cards to $1 as part of a limited-time campaign aimed at expanding access to international payment services.
The bank also confirmed that all Point-of-Sale (POS) and e-commerce transactions will be free during the promotional period.
The move comes amid growing competition among Somali banks, many of which now issue MasterCard and Visa cards to meet rising consumer demand for digital financial services.
“Our goal is to make modern financial tools available to everyone,” said Ahmed Nor Mohamed, Head of Public Relations at Premier Bank.
Premier Bank, a Sharia-compliant institution licensed by the Central Bank of Somalia, offers a range of services including mobile and internet banking, international transfers, ATM access, and corporate finance solutions.
MasterCard, a global technology company in the payments industry, operates in over 210 countries and provides infrastructure that facilitates secure and efficient international transactions.
