Kenya, April 8, 2026 - Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi is being flown to Nairobi for urgent treatment after he was attacked and injured in Kisumu on Wednesday.
Details of the incident remain limited, but Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna confirmed the assault, saying he had spoken directly with Osotsi’s team.
“I have spoken to Senator Osotsi’s team and confirmed that he was viciously attacked and injured in Kisumu earlier today when he went to get a haircut,” Sifuna said.
The injuries were reportedly serious enough to require immediate air evacuation, ruling out travel by road.
“The Senator is being airlifted to Nairobi as we speak,” he added.

Sifuna condemned the attack and called on police to move swiftly against those responsible.
“I strongly condemn this attack and ask the police for immediate action,” he said.
Authorities are yet to release full details on the circumstances surrounding the incident or the extent of the senator’s injuries.
