Kenya, January 23 2026 - Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga has received the final selection report for nominees to the Nyeri County Public Service Board, paving the way for their submission to the County Assembly for vetting following what he termed a transparent and merit-driven recruitment process.
The governor, accompanied by Deputy Governor David Kinaniri, said the handover of the report marked the conclusion of a “rigorous and transparent recruitment exercise” conducted by an independent selection panel.
“The report outlines the names of candidates who, in the panel’s judgment, demonstrated exceptional competence, integrity and readiness to serve the people of Nyeri,” Governor Kahiga said.
He noted that the process was designed to strengthen governance and professionalism within the county public service.
“This handover signifies a major step toward strengthening our county’s public service and ensuring that key positions are filled by individuals of the highest calibre,” he added.
The Selection Panel, chaired by Ronald Mwambia, conducted an open, competitive process that included public advertisement of the positions, shortlisting using clearly defined criteria, and rigorous oral interviews. The panel also carried out integrity checks in compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution.

“With the report now in my office, I will be forwarding the recommended names to the Nyeri County Assembly for vetting,” he said, adding that the Assembly would conduct its own scrutiny to confirm the nominees meet all legal and ethical requirements before appointment.
The governor said the collaboration between the Selection Panel, the Executive and the County Assembly demonstrated “our shared commitment to accountable leadership and the continuous strengthening of Nyeri County’s governance structures.”
Also present at the handover were County Secretary Edward Irungu, Chief Officer in the Governor’s Office Nahashon Mung’ora, and Director of Administration Solomon Chengecha.
