Kenya, June 13, 2026 - Motorists using the Nairobi Expressway this weekend are set to experience a temporary traffic disruption to pave the way for infrastructural improvements across the corridor.
In a notice on Saturday, Moja Expressway company said that the closure will take place from Saturday, 10 pm, June 13 to Sunday, 10 pm, June 14.
During the closure, motorists travelling from Mlolongo towards the Central Business District have been advised to use Eastern Bypass Exit A, then re-enter the expressway via Southern Bypass Entrance A.
On the other hand, CBD-bound motorists heading towards Mlolongo will be required to use Southern Bypass Exit B and rejoin the expressway through Eastern Bypass Entrance B.
According to the company, the closure will pave the way for the installation of the fabricated footbridge beam of the Airtel footbridge across the expressway, to improve pedestrian access and safety along the Mombasa Road Corridor.
Motorists have been encouraged to plan their journeys ahead to avoid any inconvenience.
“We kindly urge all motorists to plan their journeys accordingly in advance. Sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused, and thank you for choosing the Nairobi Expressway,” the notice reads.
This comes at a time when the government is ramping up efforts to improve the transport infrastructure capacity in the country's capital, to reduce congestion and enhance safety.
