Somalia, 7 January 2026 Three civilians were injured in Mogadishu’s Deynile district on Tuesday after a protest against local businesses escalated into a violent clash with security forces.
The unrest began at approximately 10:55 a.m. local time when a group of youths turned violent, looting a shop belonging to one of the businessmen, Somali Police Force said in a statement.
The force said the protesters, who included women and children, pelted officers who tried to intervene to protect private property. Police reinforcements were sent to the area to quell the violent demonstrations.

"There were no fatalities resulting from the incident," the statement said, adding that the injured had been transported to local hospitals for medical treatment.
The Somali Police Force said it has launched a formal investigation into the cause of the riot and cautioned the public against spreading "misinformation" regarding the clash.
