Somalia, 30 June 2026 – Mogadishu hosted a training programme to improve Sharia institutes and strengthen education quality, teacher standards and their role in society.
The training, organised by Al-Arabiya University and funded by Mogadishu Hospital, brought together administrators from nearly 150 institutes that teach Sharia sciences.
Organisers said the training aimed to improve teaching methods, strengthen examination standards and promote responsibility and integrity in the delivery of religious education.

Al-Arabiya University President Mohamed Ibrahim Ali said the programme would help improve the education system used by Sharia institutes.
“The main topics covered in this training include preparing examinations that are in line with academic education standards and can be properly developed,” Ali said. “Participants are also being reminded that education is a trust that must be fulfilled properly.”
Officials and participants said the annual training plays an important role in unifying education standards among Sharia institutes and improving the skills of administrators and teachers.
