United States, April 23, 2026 - Meta has announced a new parental supervision feature on its platforms that will enable parents to monitor how their teens interact with Meta AI across its platforms.
In a statement, the tech giant said that parents and guardians using supervision on Facebook, Messenger, or Instagram will now see a new insights tab both in-app and on the web.
From there, parents will be able to see the topics their teen has been asking Meta AI about in that specific app over the past seven days, from school, entertainment, and lifestyle to travel, writing, and health and wellbeing, among others.
“In October, we announced we were building new ways to support parents as they help their teens navigate AI,” Meta said. “This included providing parents with insights into the topics their teen has been discussing with Meta’s AI assistant.”
The new tools are set to supplement the safety protection features that are already built into its AI for Teen Accounts.
These systems are built using standards similar to 13+ movie ratings, which prevent Meta AI from providing age-inappropriate responses. However, parents can still see the general topic their children attempted to engage in with the AI.

The new tools are engineered on existing parental supervision features that allow parents to set screen time limits, schedule breaks, and monitor who their teen has been chatting with over a specific period of time, according to Meta.
In addition, the company says that it is in the process of developing new alerts that will let parents know when their teen tries to engage in conversations related to suicide or self-harm with Meta AI.
“We’re encouraged to see these tools are proving helpful to families, with the number of US teens enrolled in supervision more than doubling since last year,” the company said.
The company has also revealed that it has formed a Well-being Expert Council that will ensure that all AI experiences for teens remain safe and age-appropriate.
