Kenya, April 9, 2026 - Meta has launched Muse Spark, the first in a new series of large language models from Meta Superintelligence Labs, aimed at upgrading its social media and AI platforms.
According to Meta, the new model is engineered to handle complex reasoning tasks across different fields, including science, mathematics, and health, while also supporting multimodal capabilities such as interpreting images and visual inputs.
Muse Spark is now powering key upgrades to the Meta AI assistant, which is available at the Meta AI app and meta.ai.
The company is set to integrate the model into its platforms and devices, including WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, as well as Meta glasses, which use Meta AI, in the coming days.
“This initial model is small and fast by design, yet capable enough to reason through complex questions in science, math, and health. It is a powerful foundation, and the next generation is already in development,” Meta said.
“Muse Spark now powers the Meta AI assistant in the Meta AI app and meta.ai, built to support complex reasoning and multimodal tasks.”
With the help of Muse Spark, Meta AI will now be equipped with new multimodal features that will allow the assistant to analyze images, interpret visual information, and support use cases such as identifying objects, comparing products, and assisting with health-related queries.
The model will also give Meta AI advanced visual coding capabilities, which will allow users to create custom websites, dashboards, and simple games directly from prompts.
The new features will first be rolled out in the US before being expanded to users in other countries.
Meta has also revealed plans to give access to the model through a private preview API for select partners and says it hopes to open-source future versions of the model.
“As we expand these features, expect richer, more visual results, with Reels, photos, and posts woven directly into your answers, with credit back to the content creators,” the tech company said,” the company said.
Even as its AI system continues to evolve rapidly, the company has assured that it will prioritise the safety and privacy of users by engineering reinforced safeguards.
