Mashemeji Derby: AFC Leopards vs Gor Mahia Set for Title-Deciding Clash

Kenya, April 26, 2026 - The stage is set for one of the biggest fixtures in Kenyan football as AFC Leopards host arch-rivals Gor Mahia in the 99th edition of the Mashemeji Derby, a match that could ultimately decide the FKF Premier League title.

This is not just another derby, it’s a direct battle for the championship. Gor Mahia come into the clash sitting top of the table with around 58 points, narrowly ahead of second-placed AFC Leopards, who trail by just three points. 

With only a handful of matches remaining after this encounter, the stakes could not be higher. A win for Gor Mahia would open up a significant gap at the summit, potentially putting them in firm control of the title race. On the other hand, victory for AFC Leopards would see them leapfrog their rivals and completely reshape the championship battle.
