UK, October 24 , 2026 - Aston Villa produced one of the results of the season so far as Nicolas Jackson scored twice to end Manchester City’s perfect Premier League start.
The former Chelsea striker opened the scoring in the seventh minute at Villa Park, finishing calmly after John McGinn won the ball high up the pitch. Jackson then added a second after the hour mark to put the home side firmly in control.
City, who had won all of their opening league games, struggled to break down a well-organised Villa side and could not find a way back into the match. The defeat marks their first loss of the Premier League campaign and hands the initiative to the chasing pack.
Jackson has been in excellent form since joining Villa and continues to repay the club’s investment. His brace against the defending champions underlines his growing importance to Unai Emery’s side.
For City, the result is a reality check after an impressive start under Enzo Maresca. For Villa, it is a statement win that lifts them further up the table and shows they can compete with the very best.
