14:10 pm Security operations tied to the protests have ramped up in Nairobi, with new arrests, crowd‑dispersal actions and tear gas reported around Parliament Buildings, Parliament Road, University Way and the CBD. There were fresh reports of mugging, looting and renewed clashes between protesters and police in Githurai 45, and police moved in to disperse crowds and make arrests in Kitengela. Elsewhere, business activity stayed subdued in parts of Kirinyaga.

12:27 pm : Protest activity has escalated in Nairobi today, with multiple arrests, crowd‑control operations and new police roadblocks across the CBD, Waiyaki Way, Thika Road, Magadi Road and Uhuru Highway. Police used tear gas during clashes with protesters and against a United Opposition motorcade heading to Parliament. Long‑distance buses were blocked from entering the CBD. Elsewhere, peaceful demonstrations were reported in Mombasa, anti‑riot units stayed on standby in Nakuru, and heightened private security and police patrols were seen in Nyeri. Several other counties remained largely calm.

11: 55 am : Commemorations for the victims of the 2024 Gen Z protests have been subdued today as heavy police deployments and roadblocks keep Nairobi on edge. The CBD is almost empty, most businesses are closed, and public transport is largely blocked , leaving thousands stranded. There have been sporadic small marches and pockets of tension in other counties, while teargas was reported in isolated locations such as Githurai. Overall the situation remains fluid but contained, with no major nationwide violence confirmed.

- In Nairobi, major barricades reported along Thika Road (Ruiru, Githurai, Allsops, Kasarani, Roysambu), Mombasa Road (Mlolongo, Athi River, near JKIA), Lang’ata Road (Maharaja/Nairobi West), Waiyaki Way (Kangemi, Kinoo, Westlands), Ngong/Magadi Road (Rongai/MMU), Kiambu Road (Thindigua), Bunyala Roundabout, Jogoo Road, and the Eastern Bypass.

8:55 am: Widespread police roadblocks and traffic snarl-ups have hit Nairobi ahead of the June 25 protests, leaving many commuters stranded after public service vehicles were blocked from entering the CBD. Checkpoints and heavy security are in place on major routes, Thika Road, Mombasa Road, Jogoo Road, Waiyaki Way, Kiambu Road, Ngong Road, Limuru Road and the Eastern Bypass, and the Parliament precinct has been barricaded with razor wire. In Mombasa, however, business in the CBD is continuing as usual.
8:50am: Commuter chaos has worsened across Nairobi , passengers are stuck at matatu stages after a widespread shortage of public service vehicles. The few vans running are being held back from the CBD by police roadblocks. Most businesses in Nairobi and the metro area are shut over security fears, and extra police checkpoints have been set up in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County.
