Kenya, May 02 ,2026 - Leeds United delivered a composed and clinical performance to secure a 3-1 victory over Burnley, boosting their survival hopes with a result built on early control and second-half efficiency.
Leeds made a strong start and took the lead as early as the 8th minute, when Anton Stach found the back of the net after being set up by Jaka Bijol. The early goal gave Leeds immediate control and forced Burnley to chase the game.
The first half then became increasingly physical, with multiple bookings disrupting the rhythm. Pascal Struijk (27’), Ben Humphreys (35’), Loum Tchaouna (37’), and Joe Rodon (40’) were all shown yellow cards as tensions rose before the break. Despite Burnley’s attempts to respond, Leeds held onto their narrow 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
The second half began with more intensity, and Leeds quickly took control again. In the 52nd minute, Noah Okafor doubled the lead after an assist from Jayden Bogle, finishing a well-worked move to put Leeds firmly in command.
Just four minutes later, Leeds struck again. In the 56th minute, Dominic Calvert-Lewin made it 3-0, capitalizing on attacking momentum and effectively putting the game beyond Burnley’s reach.
Burnley attempted to fight back and thought they had found a way through in the 68th minute, but a goal from Lucas Pires was ruled out for offside following a VAR review, a moment that summed up their frustrating afternoon.

They did eventually get on the scoresheet in the 71st minute, when Loum Tchaouna pulled one back after an assist from Jaidon Anthony, but by then the damage had already been done.
Leeds managed the closing stages with discipline, making tactical substitutions, including the introduction of Brenden Aaronson, to maintain control and see out the result comfortably.
The win is a massive boost for Leeds United in the Premier League survival race. A fast start and ruthless spell early in the second half proved decisive, giving them three crucial points at a defining stage of the season.
As it stands, a win from their 3 remaining matches should be enough to guarantee their survival.
