6 April 2026 - Leaders, including Members of Parliament, Cabinet Secretaries, and envoys, participated in the 2026 East Africa Somali Awards held in Nairobi on Sunday, where they called for stronger governance, formalisation, and ethical investment in various sectors, including healthcare.
The awards honoured outstanding individuals of Somali heritage across East Africa for their achievements in fields such as medicine, business, fashion, technology, media, hospitality, and leadership.
Winners were selected through a rigorous regional vetting process before being unveiled at a prestigious gala in Nairobi.
The awards recognise individuals who have made significant contributions to their communities, promoting excellence and innovation.
Organisers said the strict vetting process ensured that only the most deserving candidates were honoured.
Among those recognised was Wajir South MP Mohammed Adow, who received a well-deserved award in acknowledgement of his dedication, hard work, and unwavering commitment to serving his community.

The event was also attended by Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Bare Duale and Somalia’s Ambassador to Kenya, Jibril Ibrahim.
