France, 18 November 2025 - Kylian Mbappe and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are caught up in a high-profile legal battle, with both sides demanding extraordinary sums from each other.
Mbappé claims over $301 million from his former club for unpaid wages, moral harassment, undeclared work, and various contractual grievances.
PSG, meanwhile, seeks $510 million from Mbappé, arguing that his refusal to join Saudi club Al Hilal in July 2023 resulted in a huge financial loss and damaged their reputation.
Mbappe's Claims Against PSG
Kylian Mbappé's lawsuit against PSG complains of alleged unpaid wages, contract misclassification, and claims of psychological harassment. Mbappé says that PSG owes him more than €260 million (about $301 million), including compensation for unpaid bonuses and severance.
He argues that his fixed-term contract should be reclassified as a permanent one, which would activate significant additional payments under French labor laws. Furthermore, he alleges moral harassment, saying PSG mistreated him by excluding him from pre-season tours and making him train with players marked for transfer or release, actions described as “lofting”.
Mbappé’s representatives maintain he is not seeking more than the law provides, but simply wants his legal rights to be enforced. Moral harassment claims are supported by accusations of PSG breaching its duty of good faith and failing to ensure a safe work environment for the player.

PSG's Counterclaims Against Mbappe
PSG's legal team has launched a counterclaim for €440 million (about $510 million) against Mbappé. This figure includes €180 million for a “loss of opportunity” resulting from the star forward's refusal to move to Al Hilal after they made a €300 million ($335 million) offer in July 2023. PSG insists that this decision deprived them of a historic transfer fee and hurt the club's image and negotiating position.
The club further alleges breaches of good faith in contract negotiations and performance, claiming that Mbappé concealed from PSG his intention not to renew his contract, causing organizational and financial damages.
Loss of image and damaged reputation are other components of PSG’s claims, as the club maintains that Mbappé’s actions have adversely affected them both financially and in terms of public relations. PSG left Mbappé out of key matches and tours after he refused to discuss the Al Hilal transfer, which ultimately led to his departure to Real Madrid as a free agent in 2024.
Both parties presented their cases in the French labor court, with Mbappé absent but represented by a team of lawyers. A decision is expected by mid-December, and the soccer world is closely watching for an outcome, given the scale and complexity of the financial dispute.
The case brings to light broader issues of player rights, contract negotiation practices, and the power dynamics between star athletes and clubs in elite football.
