Kenya, June 28, 2026 - The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has ruled out extending the deadline for filing 2025 Income Tax Returns, urging taxpayers to submit their returns by midnight on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
In a statement issued on June 27, KRA thanked the millions of taxpayers who have already complied but called on those yet to file to do so without delay.
The authority stressed that there will be no extension of the statutory deadline and warned that taxpayers who fail to file their returns on time will be liable to penalties and could also face default tax assessments.
KRA said filing tax returns is not only a legal obligation but also contributes to national development by supporting transparency, strengthening the tax system, and enabling the government to finance essential public services.
To facilitate compliance, the authority said taxpayers can file their returns through its digital platforms, including iTax, eCitizen, WhatsApp, and the USSD service.

KRA also cautioned against waiting until the last minute, noting that increased traffic on digital platforms could cause delays. It advised taxpayers to file early to allow enough time to resolve any issues before the deadline.
The deadline for filing 2025 Income Tax Returns remains June 30, 2026, with no extension to be granted.
