Kenya, 4 November 2025 - Kenya has been selected to host the World Cancer Leaders’ Summit (WCLS) 2027, a landmark achievement that underscores the country’s growing influence in global health diplomacy.
The National Cancer Institute of Kenya (NCI-K) announced that the summit will take place at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi from 24th to 28th November, 2027.
Organised by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) and hosted by NCI-K, the high-level policy event will bring together global decision-makers, civil society leaders, researchers, and private sector partners to shape the future of global cancer control.
“Its return to Africa highlights the continent’s growing leadership role in cancer control, providing a crucial platform for strategic dialogue and the sharing of innovative approaches to address the rising cancer burdens in African communities,” read a statement from NCI-K.
Hosting the summit marks a significant milestone for Kenya, positioning the country as a key player in advancing international collaboration on cancer prevention, treatment, and research.
UICC President-elect Dr. Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu, hailed Nairobi’s selection as the host city for the 2027 Summit as a powerful statement of Africa’s growing prominence in global health dialogue.
“The World Cancer Leaders’ Summit brings together voices from across the world to shape the future of cancer control. Hosting the Summit in Nairobi ensures that Africa’s perspectives, experiences, and priorities are central to that global conversation,” she said.
As a premier platform for policy dialogue, collaboration, and innovation in cancer control, the World Cancer Leaders’ Summit plays a pivotal role in shaping the global health agenda.
By hosting the 2027 edition, Kenya strengthens its position as a regional hub for cancer research, policy, and treatment, underscoring its commitment to universal health coverage and to fostering global cooperation in the fight against cancer.
