MOGADISHU, September 17, 2026 Jubba Airways has returned to Somalia’s aviation market, announcing plans to restart domestic and international flights following a suspension of its operations.
Mohamed Hidig Ali, the airline’s Mogadishu manager, said at a launch ceremony in the capital on Wednesday that Jubba Airways was returning with greater operational, financial and administrative capacity.
Ali said a small aircraft had begun operating and that the airline planned to add two large aircraft and two medium-sized planes to its fleet in the coming months.
The carrier plans to serve destinations within Somalia and operate flights to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kenya, Uganda and other parts of the Horn of Africa, he said.
According to the Jubba Airways website, the airline is headquartered in Nairobi and has branches in Somalia, Djibouti, Uganda, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

The company says it employs more than 300 people and provides passenger, cargo and charter services.
Destinations listed on its website include Mogadishu, Hargeisa, Bosaso, Galkayo, Garowe, Guriel, Adado, Baidoa and Kismayo, as well as Nairobi, Djibouti, Jeddah and Dubai.
Jubba Airways was established in April 1998 by Somali entrepreneurs based in Canada, according to aviation industry accounts.
Somalia’s Transport and Civil Aviation Minister Mohamed Farah Nur welcomed the carrier’s return and said the ministry would support its operations while treating all airlines equally.
Education Minister Farah Abdulkadir called on the airline to offer discounted fares to students and teachers as it expands its services.
