Somalia, 12 November 2025 —Tension is brewing in the Justice and Solidarity Party (JSP) a day after the announcement of Hassan Mohamed Hussein “Muungaab” as the party’s candidate for the Banadir Governor in the upcoming local elections.
Today, Yuusuf Hussein Jimcaale ‘Madaale’. former Banadir Governor and JSP's Secretary for Development and Coordination publicly rejected Muungaab’s nomination terming it illegal.
Madaale criticized the nomination process, saying it was decided unilaterally by a faction of party leadership without proper consultation, potentially undermining party unity and supporter confidence.
“The party’s internal rules do not allow someone to unilaterally impose a candidate. Unfortunately, the Deputy Secretary General announced a candidate publicly without prior agreement. This matter is unresolved,” Madaale said at a press briefing in Mogadishu.

The briefing also addressed concerns about election preparations and party governance, emphasizing the need for a fair and transparent process ahead of the Banadir Governor polls scheduled before the end of the year.
Muungaab’s nomination was officially announced by JSP Deputy Secretary Hussein Sheikh Mahamud during a party event held in Mogadishu on Tuesday.
Madaale’s rejection highlights internal disagreements within the party as the election approaches.
