Djibouti (Dawan) – The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has called for respect of Somalia’s unity and sovereignty, warning actions that undermine them risk escalating regional tensions.
The organization specifically referenced reports regarding the opening of a Somaliland diplomatic mission in Jerusalem, reiterating its longstanding position that Somalia’s territorial integrity and unity must be fully respected.

“Any action that undermines the unity, sovereignty, or federal borders of Somalia could escalate tensions and harm peace and stability in the region,” IGAD said in a statement.
IGAD also stressed that its support for Somalia is grounded in upholding the country’s territorial integrity, adherence to international law, and promoting dialogue and cooperation across the region.
