Kenya, 22 June 2026 - Kenya's Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Bare Duale on Sunday joined fellow Muslims in a resource mobilisation drive in support of the Abubakar Islamic Centre Trust for the construction of a mosque and a commercial building on 6th Street in Eastleigh, Nairobi.
The project is envisioned as a sustainable waqf (Islamic endowment), generating income to support the long-term operations of the Abubakar Islamic Centre and Mosque.
The CS in remarks he made, underscored the importance of charitable giving in Islam, particularly in supporting places of worship and advancing Islamic education, noting the blessings and rewards associated with such acts both in this life and in the hereafter.
He also addressed matters of national importance ahead of the planned demonstrations on 25 June 2026.
While reaffirming the constitutional right to peaceful assembly and picketing, he urged young people to exercise this freedom responsibly and with due regard for the rights of others.

"Rights come with responsibilities and the freedom to protest must be exercised in a manner that safeguards public order, respects differing choices and promotes peace and social cohesion," CS Duale stated.
The Sunday evening function to support the noble cause was hosted by Sheikh Mohamed Abdi Umal, who is one of the most prominent and influential Somali Islamic scholars and clerics in East Africa.
Also present at the event was Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi, Mandera North MP Maj (Rtd) Bashir Abdullahi, government officials and members of the community among many others.
