Ethiopia, 16 December 2025 — The Supreme Islamic Affairs Council of Addis Ababa has announced the completion of preparations for the 2026 (1447 AH) Hajj season and the start of pilgrim registration, as part of a comprehensive organizational plan aimed at facilitating the performance of Hajj rituals and ensuring pilgrims’ safety from registration through their return home.
The council, headed by Haji Sultan Aman, said the Hajj program has been incorporated into its 90-day plan as part of its approved strategic framework. Modern registration systems have been introduced to speed up procedures and reduce processing time, alongside the deployment of trained personnel and improved operational and monitoring mechanisms to enhance efficiency and the quality of services provided to pilgrims.
According to the council, preparations for the Hajj season have been divided into three main phases: registration and documentation, training and awareness, and accompaniment and accommodation in the holy sites. These phases are designed to ensure pilgrims are fully prepared administratively, religiously, and medically.
The council noted that registering pilgrims with complete documentation takes no more than 30 minutes, with technical and administrative support available for those needing assistance with passport requirements, vaccinations, or medical examinations. It also announced the organization of theoretical and practical training programs simulating Hajj rituals to enable pilgrims to perform them correctly.

It also said the council has succeeded in reducing several operational costs, resulting in financial savings exceeding USD 600, and urged citizens wishing to perform Hajj to register promptly before the deadline.
On the health front, the council stressed the importance of full compliance with the instructions of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, particularly regulations prohibiting travel for individuals with serious illnesses, in order to safeguard pilgrims’ health and avoid potential complications during the season.
