Kenya, 28 December 2025 - President William Ruto on Sunday announced the disbursement of KSh 44 billion to support the seamless progression of 1.13 million learners from junior to senior secondary school.
Addressing residents of Rotian, Narok County, the President reassured parents that the funds, made available just a couple days ago, would be accessible to schools ahead of the January reopening.
He stressed that comprehensive measures were in place to guarantee every eligible pupil a place in senior school.
“I want to reassure parents and all concerned parties throughout Kenya that we have put in place robust arrangements for the forthcoming academic year,” he declared.
“No learner will be left behind when senior school commences in January.”
Accompanied by governors Gladys Wanga of Homa Bay and Ken Lusaka of Bungoma, Narok Senator Ledama ole Kina, and various MPs and MCAs, President Ruto outlined significant strides in education infrastructure.
He revealed that the government would have employed 100,000 teachers by January 2026 since taking office after the 2022 elections. This, he said, is the highest number in the nation's history.
Furthermore, 23,000 classrooms have been built, with an additional 1,600 laboratories due for completion by March 2026.
“We have also clarified and stabilised the Competency-Based Curriculum, alongside unprecedented investments in facilities,” he noted.
The President cautioned politicians against politicising education and refuted allegations of budget cuts in the sector.
Turning to his political opponents, he urged them to move beyond rhetoric and propaganda, instead presenting concrete plans and accounting for their past performance in leadership roles.
“Let my competitors detail their accomplishments and outline a credible agenda for the nation,” he challenged.

To Narok residents, the President confirmed the handover of the Mau Forest title deed to the county government, with fencing works underway to halt its exploitation as a political tool.
On Kedong land, 10,000 acres have been restored to the community for distribution among residents.
