Somalia, 28 December 2025 The Somali National Army (SNA) has killed 15 Al-Shabaab fighters in a military operation carried out in the Moora Gaabey area, about 30 kilometres northeast of Hudur, the administrative capital of Bakool region.
In a statement, the Federal Ministry of Defence said the operation also resulted in the killing of three Al- Shabaab leaders who played key roles in the group’s activities.
The operation, tge statement said, is part of ongoing efforts by SNA to eliminate the threat posed by the militant group and to ensure peace, security, and the safety of Somali civilians.

The Somali government has been conducting military offensives in recent months aimed at pushing Al-Shabaab out of areas under the jurisdiction of South West State administration, where much of the fighting is concentrated.
The Defence Ministry said such operations are crucial for stabilizing Bakool region and also for broader efforts to restore security across the country.
