Kenya, Janaury 18 2026 - Gor Mahia FC produced a commanding performance on Sunday, 18 January 2026, as they defeated Mara Sugar FC 3–0 in an important FKF Premier League clash at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi. The win sees the Green Army regain top spot in the league standings on goal difference as they push for the 2025-26 title.
The champions opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Felix Oluoch found the back of the net, giving Gor Mahia an early lead and setting the tone for the rest of the match. Oluoch’s strike was a well-timed finish after sustained pressure from K’Ogalo’s attackers in the final third.
Gor Mahia doubled their advantage in the 28th minute through Shariff Musa, who converted after a slick team move that exposed the Mara Sugar defence. Musa’s goal put Mara Sugar on the back foot and boosted the hosts’ confidence as they looked in control for much of the first half.
The third and final goal came late in the game, with Samuel Kapen adding the icing on the cake in the 84th minute. Kapen’s strike extended Gor Mahia’s lead and ensured a comfortable victory, much to the delight of the home supporters.
Mara Sugar, who have struggled for consistency this season, were unable to really test Gor Mahia’s defence, which stood firm to record a clean sheet. The loss leaves the Sugar Men searching for answers as they look to climb up the league table in the coming weeks.
