Kenya, July 13, 2026 - Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia FC have strengthened their growing commercial portfolio after signing a new sponsorship agreement with electric mobility company Spiro, in a deal worth KSh7.5 million annually.
The partnership was officially witnessed by Gor Mahia patron Eliud Owalo, who has been spearheading the club's efforts to attract corporate investment since assuming the patron's role. Under the agreement, Spiro becomes Gor Mahia's Official Electric Mobility Partner, marking another significant step in the club's strategy to diversify its sponsorship base ahead of the 2026–27 season and its CAF Champions League campaign.
A Strategic Partnership for a New Era
The sponsorship agreement reinforces Gor Mahia's commitment to embracing innovation while strengthening its financial sustainability.
As the club's Electric Mobility Partner, Spiro will collaborate with Gor Mahia in promoting sustainable transport solutions while supporting the club financially through an annual sponsorship package valued at KSh7.5 million.
The partnership comes at a time when electric mobility is rapidly gaining momentum across Africa, with Spiro expanding its footprint through electric motorcycles, battery-swapping infrastructure and clean transportation solutions in several African countries.
The agreement represents more than just financial support for Gor Mahia; it aligns the club with one of Africa's fastest-growing green technology companies and reflects a broader commercial vision aimed at modernising the club's operations.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by club patron Eliud Owalo, who has played a central role in attracting corporate partners to Gor Mahia. Since taking over as patron, Owalo has consistently emphasised the need for the club to transition from relying primarily on gate collections and fundraising to becoming a professionally managed, commercially sustainable football institution.
Speaking on previous sponsorship agreements, Owalo has maintained that Gor Mahia's long-term ambition is to become one of Africa's leading football clubs by building strong partnerships with the private sector.
His commercial strategy has already resulted in several major agreements during 2026, significantly improving the club's financial outlook.
Another Boost Following Plascon's Landmark Deal
The Spiro agreement follows closely on the heels of Gor Mahia's landmark three-year KSh30 million sponsorship renewal with Kansai Plascon Kenya Limited, signed shortly after the club won its record-extending 22nd FKF Premier League title.
That deal increased Plascon's commitment from an initial short-term sponsorship to a long-term partnership that includes additional financial incentives for league titles, CAF Champions League participation and derby victories over AFC Leopards.
More from Kenya
Together, the Plascon and Spiro partnerships demonstrate growing confidence among corporate sponsors in Gor Mahia's commercial potential.
The new sponsorship arrives at an important moment for K'Ogalo. After reclaiming the 2025–26 FKF Premier League title, Gor Mahia earned Kenya's slot in the CAF Champions League, where participation requires substantial financial resources for travel, player welfare and logistics.
The club has therefore prioritised securing corporate backing before embarking on its continental campaign.
What Spiro Brings to Gor Mahia
Spiro is one of Africa's leading electric mobility companies, focusing on accelerating the transition to clean transportation through electric motorcycles and battery-swapping technology.
By becoming Gor Mahia's Electric Mobility Partner, the company gains visibility through one of East Africa's most supported football clubs, while Gor Mahia benefits from both financial support and association with a brand promoting sustainable innovation.
The collaboration also reflects a broader trend in African football, where clubs are increasingly partnering with technology and clean-energy companies rather than relying solely on traditional sponsors.
Owalo has repeatedly stressed that Gor Mahia's future depends on establishing multiple revenue streams. His vision includes expanding corporate sponsorship, professionalising club management, growing merchandising revenue, developing youth football, investing in permanent infrastructure including training facilities and a stadium, and strengthening the women's and youth teams.
The addition of Spiro further supports that long-term strategy.
The KSh7.5 million annual sponsorship agreement with Spiro represents another important milestone in Gor Mahia's commercial transformation. Combined with recent partnerships and renewed investment from corporate sponsors, the club is entering the new season on a stronger financial footing than in recent years.
As Gor Mahia prepares to defend its FKF Premier League crown and compete in the CAF Champions League, the backing of partners such as Spiro and Kansai Plascon provides greater financial stability and reinforces the club's ambition of becoming a professionally run institution capable of competing successfully both domestically and on the continental stage.
