US , August 27, 2026 - Argentine coach Cristian “Kily” González has reportedly reached an agreement to become the new head coach of Inter Miami, with an official announcement expected within the next 24 hours.
The report claims that González has already given his approval to take charge of the MLS club. If confirmed, the appointment would mark another major Argentine connection for Inter Miami, following the club's recent work under Javier Mascherano.
Inter Miami have been searching for a permanent solution since Mascherano stepped down in April 2026 for personal reasons. Mascherano had enjoyed a highly successful first season, guiding the Herons to their first MLS Cup title and an MLS-record 101 goals across the regular season and playoffs.
Following Mascherano's departure, Guillermo Hoyos was placed in charge on an interim basis. Hoyos initially stepped in while the club assessed its options and was subsequently retained beyond the 2026 World Cup break after a strong start to his interim tenure. Miami have collected 19 points from a possible 24 during his first eight matches, leaving them near the top of the Eastern Conference.
González, 52, would arrive with considerable experience in Argentine football. The former Argentina international previously managed Rosario Central, Unión Santa Fe and Platense, although his most recent spell at Platense ended in October 2025. Transfermarkt currently lists him as without a club.
